Folsom has a genuinely old core — the Sutter Street historic district dates to the Gold Rush — and a very large amount of housing built in the last forty years around it. 80,454 people at the 2020 census, across 27.88 square miles.
The historic end of town is detail work. The older houses around it carry wood trim, brick and decorative detail, and anything near a historic district usually comes with expectations about color and finish that are worth establishing before a brush is opened. The newer subdivisions are conventional stucco-and-trim repaints, and the main variable is exposure.
Exposure is the Folsom theme. The city sits east of the valley floor at about 220 feet, close to Folsom Lake, with a lot of open, unshaded frontage in the newer tracts. West-facing elevations here take sustained afternoon sun through a long dry summer, and that is the wall that fades first, chalks first and fails first. Choosing a more UV-stable color for that elevation, or simply knowing it will need attention sooner than the north side, is a more useful conversation than any promise in small print.

We’re in Rancho Cordova and hired GP Sacramento for an interior repaint. Fernando painted the main living areas in a warm white and chose a low-sheen finish that helped soften the appearance of the wall texture. The living room now feels clean, calm, and refreshed.

Erik did a really nice job painting our ceiling and beams. Even though there are a lot of angles up there, everything came out clean and even, especially around the fan. He showed up on time, took his time with the details, and kept the area neat while he worked. We also added a few doors after he started, and he was totally flexible about it.
